How to register for ZRA Smart Invoice
Getting onto ZRA Smart Invoice has two parts: registering with ZRA, and choosing how you will actually issue invoices day to day. This guide covers both in plain language. For the official process, always confirm the current steps with ZRA directly.
Before you start
Have your business tax details ready — your TPIN and VAT registration — and know which branches and users will issue invoices. If you already run a system for sales and stock, note how you invoice today; it makes the setup conversation much faster.
Registering with ZRA
According to ZRA, you register through the Smart Invoice Taxpayer Portal and sign up there. ZRA publishes support channels for Smart Invoice, including the email smartinvoice@zra.org.zm and a toll-free line (4111), along with registration guides and user manuals on the ZRA website.
Because these details are set by ZRA and can change, treat the ZRA website and those channels as the source of truth for the exact registration steps and any documents required.
Choosing how you will issue invoices
Registration gets you onto the system; it does not decide how painful daily invoicing will be. The free portal means keying every invoice by hand, separately from your own records. A VSDC-integrated system issues the compliant invoice automatically as part of a normal sale, so you capture once, not twice.
How Fiscari helps
Fiscari sets up your items, customers, opening stock and branch devices, connects to ZRA through a sealed certified fiscal engine, and trains your team — with support that is a WhatsApp message to the developer in Lusaka. A straightforward business is typically live within days; a migration from an existing system gets an honest timeline from the free setup review first.
Want this handled for you?
Fiscari makes a compliant invoice a by-product of running your business. Tell us how you invoice today and we will show you what moving looks like.
